October 18, 2004 Boston, MA. USA

ManageSoft, The Software Management Company™, today announced that it is working with leading clients in the K-12 education industry, such as Duval County Public Schools and Gwinnett County Public Schools, to proactively protect their environment against outbreaks that exploit security vulnerabilities in operating systems and applications. Working with IBM, ManageSoft has delivered a complete security solution using its Security Patch Management and IBM Global Services professionals, and the IBM Tivoli suite.

“We chose ManageSoft and IBM because together they had the domain expertise and experience necessary to help us protect the school district’s student computers from the crippling effects of cyber viruses and worms,” said Scott Futrell, CIO, Gwinnett County Public Schools. “By teaming up, IBM and ManageSoft were able to provide us with a complete, client-centric software management solution for managing and updating thousands of computers and applications across 104 school district sites.”

By working with IBM, ManageSoft has been successful in providing these clients the ability to automatically deploy security patch updates to PC desktops, servers and mobile devices across an enterprise, significantly reducing staffing and downtime costs. In addition, ManageSoft’s Security Patch Management solution automatically heals applications and provides up-to-the-minute reporting on the status of enterprise-wide security patch protection. Collaborating with ManageSoft, IBM will also deliver the technical knowledge required to successfully implement security patch management solutions that integrate marketing, sales and service operations.

“By working with ManageSoft, we are now able to provide our customers with a best-of-breed security patch management solution to better protect their operating systems and applications from cyber attacks,” said David McManus, Project Manager, IBM Corporation. “Equally important, ManageSoft’s Security Patch Management self-healing capabilities underscore our commitment to providing clients with self-optimizing, autonomic solutions.”

“Working with IBM will enable us to expand our reach in the market, further establishing ManageSoft as the leading enterprise security patch management solution,” said Walter Elliot, CEO of ManageSoft. “We look forward to building a close relationship with IBM to ensure our joint customers are protected from the devastating effects of computer viruses and worms.”
