ManageSoft delivers dynamic software management
for Mac OS X environments

ManageSoft provides fastest, most reliable way to automatically deploy, update and manage software on Mac OS X devices

January 10, 2005 Boston, MA, USA

ManageSoft, The Software Management Company™, today delivered support for Apple Mac OS X operating systems for the automatic deployment, updating and management of software and security patches. The ManageSoft support for the Mac OS X platform allows companies with heterogeneous environments to use a single solution to manage their desktop, laptop, server and handheld devices. Companies running Mac OS X either singularly, or alongside Windows, Unix and Linux, will benefit from ManageSoft’s unique client-centric and policy based smart-agent architecture, which provides capabilities such as self-healing and policy compliance helping to streamline IT service support and delivery.

“As many of our key target industries, such as education, operate predominantly in a Mac OS X standardized environment, our support of this advanced operating system is critical,” said Walter Elliot, CEO at ManageSoft. “This allows enterprises to rely on one solution for self-monitoring, self-healing, self-updating and self-patching software for any operating environment, increasing efficiency and productivity.”

Unlike server-centric products that introduce critical-points-of-failure into an enterprise IT infrastructure, the ManageSoft client-centric architecture enables managed devices to dynamically adapt to changes in the IT environment though its policy-based management. A modular, integrated solution, ManageSoft includes the necessary building blocks to enable companies to transform computers into self-managing devices, allowing organizations to choose the functionality they need now and add capabilities over time.

“As a dynamic, rapidly-growing and innovative university, the Apple Mac OS X platform is critical to our curriculum," said Mark Ridge, Manager IT Support Services, Edith Cowan University. "Until now, we have struggled with managing two very separate environments for both students and staff. ManageSoft gives us the ability to easily manage our heterogeneous environment from a single central console and enable the effective control of the university's hardware and software assets, dramatically improving IT service delivery and reducing IT costs."

Macintosh support is available immediately from ManageSoft and partner companies worldwide.
