ManageSoft Corporation encourages those with an interest in Software Asset Management (SAM) to review and comment on draft standard ISO/IEC 19770-2, which covers software tagging, labeling and identification.
The standard lays the foundation for improved SAM processes, by:
The International Business Software Managers Association (IBSMA) was appointed by ISO/IEC Working Group 21 to draft the standard. ManageSoft is an active IBSMA member, and was heavily involved on the committee responsible for drafting the standard, along with other industry leaders such as IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Symantec.
"As an international standard, supported by multiple vendors and industry organizations, we are confident that the standard opens the way for the development of strong SAM products and processes, which will benefit enterprises worldwide," said Steven Russman, Executive Director of IBSMA. "The input from ManageSoft and other members, allowed us to progress quickly to a practical and complete proposal."
The draft standard was released on January 24, and is available at http://www.ecpmedia.com/ibsma_samstds.html. Public comments are invited until March 16, after which the standard will be finalized in time for presentation at the May 20-24 International Organization for Standardization (ISO) plenary meeting in Moscow, Russia.
