ManageSoft® Enterprise Compliance Manager® (ECM) is the first and only Software Asset Management (SAM) product to combine physical and virtual IT asset inventory, software usage, PO data, license compliance, and contract management. ECM enables you to slash your software license and maintenance costs while improving IT operational efficiency and maintaining license compliance.

The ECM License Management Engine collects and analyzes input from many different data sources to produce a wide range of compliance and IT spend management reports and alerts:
- Software and hardware inventory can be collected by ECM’s own zero-touch, agent-less inventory capability or fully deployed inventory agent. Inventory can also be imported directly from Microsoft SMS or SCCM and other third party tools. In addition to hardware and software inventory, application usage data can also be collected and imported into ECM via an inventory agent. Usage data helps to find opportunities for maintenance cost reductions, for instance. For more information on inventory collection and the import process, please click here.
- The Oracle discovery & inventory option solves the unique challenges of collecting Oracle database information to enable license reconciliation and compliance. For more information on the ECM Oracle License Management Option, which includes discovery and inventory, please click here.
- The ECM VMware option provides the ability to discover all VMware ESX and vCenter Servers on the network. It also allows the collection of software inventory on all virtual machines running on those virtual servers. For more information on the ECM VMware License Management Option, please click here.
- Software license entitlement information, meaning purchase order and contract data, can be imported directly from your purchasing or financial system using an ECM Financial Connector. For more information on the ECM Financial Connector, please click here.
- ECM’s intellectual property libraries include an Application Recognition Library which provides a continuously updated set of rules for identifying software application titles and publishers from the raw inventory data. The License Definition Library contains specifications of a wide variety of software licenses types. And the SKU Library ties the Stock Keeping Unit numbers found on your purchase orders to specific details of the products and licenses you’ve purchased (the SKU Library option is currently included at no extra charge for new customers).
ECM reconciles what you own against what you have installed and generates an Effective License Position (ELP). Only after you have determined your license position can you make informed decisions: Over licensed? Freeze purchases? Renegotiate maintenance contracts? Eliminate vendors? Reclaim licenses for reuse elsewhere? Enterprise following corporate procurement policy? Under licensed? Unapproved software downloads and installations? Buy more? Get better volume discounts? Ready for audit? What license type has better ROI?

License reconciliation is much more than comparing purchases and installations. License types need to be understood in conjunction with the computing environment (virtual machines, servers, multi-processor machines, physical locations, etc.) and specific vendors’ license terms. Software licenses are complicated and it's too easy to be out of compliance.
Enterprise Compliance Manager also has an intuitive dashboard to provide the software asset management information you need at your fingertips. Reports on maintenance payments, pending contract renewals, license breaches, software usage, license allocation, license entitlement, potential savings, and contract optimizations are all standard.
