ManageSoft® Wraps Up Most Successful Year Ever
Leader in enterprise software management caps fiscal year 2005 with record-setting fourth quarter, continuous product roll-outs, and rapidly expanding roster of prestigious customers
August 15, 2005 Boston, MA, USA
Closing the year with impressive double-digit revenue growth and record-setting revenues, ManageSoft®, a leading, privately held provider of intelligent solutions to manage enterprise deployments of client software and computing assets, today announced the completion of its most successful fiscal year ever.
In its recently concluded fiscal fourth quarter, ManageSoft achieved record worldwide revenues — 28 percent higher than its previous best three-month period. The company also reported that the number of managed devices (computers that are controlled by ManageSoft solutions) — a key metric of its market penetration — has risen 46 percent over the previous year.
“We are extremely pleased with the progress of our company in the past year,” said Walter Elliot, chief executive officer of ManageSoft. “We have achieved strong worldwide momentum and growth because enterprises are increasingly recognizing the exceptional value that our family of solutions provides. Our most recent product release — ManageSoft Refresh — is the latest in a series of innovative products that our customers are deploying to achieve dramatic cost savings and IT efficiency. As we move into our new fiscal year, we believe that ManageSoft is ideally positioned to build on this excellent foundation of success and continue our growth in the market.”
That growth was fueled by strong license-revenue performance. In fiscal 2005, ManageSoft’s customer base grew 33 percent over the previous year, marked by numerous agreements with new and existing customers, including:

Strong Success in Education Markets, including IBM partnership
In particular, the company has achieved a strong presence in the primary/secondary education market, where staffs are stretched thin and districts are seeking to maximize their IT investments and minimize expenses. In fiscal 2005, ManageSoft customers in some of the U.S.’s largest districts — including Palm Beach County (Fla.), Gwinnett County, Duval County (Fla.), and St. Tammany Parish (La.) School Board — added ManageSoft solutions to more than 100,000 desktops.
In addition, ManageSoft announced a partnership with IBM® (NYSE: IBM) to work with K-12 organizations to proactively protect against outbreaks that exploit security vulnerabilities. The joint security solution leverages ManageSoft Security Patch Manager and IBM Tivoli Suite, and IBM Global Services.
A Steady Stream Of Product Innovations
Fiscal 2005 saw ManageSoft continue its rapid and consistent stream of innovative product developments. The centerpiece of those efforts was the June launch of ManageSoft Refresh, the industry’s first intelligent, zero-touch solution for refreshing, transforming, and migrating enterprise PCs.
With many enterprises retiring or updating a significant portion of their PC fleet each year, IT professionals face a continuous cycle of low-value, labor-intensive manual work to procure, configure, and deploy hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of computers annually. ManageSoft Refresh radically streamlines the hardware replacement and software upgrade cycle through a structured, automated, zero-touch process that ensures users have the proper role-specific software installed and configured and that each computer conforms to approved corporate standards for license and security compliance. Customers using ManageSoft Refresh include Dell Managed Services and TriFusion — a managed-services provider that has used ManageSoft Refresh for such customers as Bausch & Lomb, SBC Communications, New York City Department of Education, and Austin (Texas) Independent School District.
The company’s other major product-development milestones included:
ManageSoft 7.6 — The new release of the company’s flagship suite includes support for the small- and medium-business market, including self-installation and configuration, first-use assistant, and easy targeting.
Enhanced network discovery — ManageSoft extended its ability to accurately discover all network connected devices including, printers, routers and switches. With IP scanning and OS fingerprinting technology ManageSoft is a able to identify all network assets.
Extended Patch Management — ManageSoft extended its acclaimed Security Patch Manager solution to automatically deploy multilingual patches and added support for automatic patching of numerous other applications.
New Platform Support — ManageSoft added support for SuSe Linux and Macintosh OSX clients and extended automated security patch-management support to RedHat Linux and SuSe Linux clients. ManageSoft also added support for leading PDA platforms, including Palm, WinCE, RIM, and Smartphone.
New IT Business Intelligence Features — the Company’s popular IT Business Intelligence solution now includes dynamic scorecards that let IT managers create their own “dashboards” to monitor specific key performance indicators (KPIs).
Innovations like these were a key reason that ManageSoft was named a winner of the 2005 Consensus Software Awards and one of two companies to earn the “Highly Commended” designation.
