In the first quarter of fiscal 2006, ManageSoft continued its steady rollout of new products, upgrades, and enhancements.
Active Linux Distribution Server — In a continued effort to leverage existing infrastructures, ManageSoft has updated its Linux Distribution Server, allowing for even greater control, efficiencies, and flexibility in configuring an enterprise's PC management infrastructure. The Linux Distribution Server now provides functionality that ManageSoft customers have relied on for years, including bandwidth throttling, byte-level differencing, distribution time windows, and more. This enables existing Linux systems (as well as traditional Microsoft Windows-based systems) to distribute ManageSoft policies, packages, patches, and configuration management updates to Windows, Linux and Apple desktops, laptops and handheld devices.
ManageSoft Security Suite — The new release of ManageSoft Security Patch Management continues to provide the most comprehensive patch remediation on the market by adding support for the new MBSA 2.0 and WSUS to its list of existing Microsoft Security scanning tools, as well as its own Linux scanning tool providing patches for both Red Hat and Suse versions of Linux. In addition, new modules of the ManageSoft Security Manager provide for policy-based enforcement of corporate security standards along with vulnerability auditing and reporting; application blocking; local-device management; and scanning and remediation of malware, spyware, and adware.
During the first quarter, ManageSoft also earned a prestigious distinction, earning a position in the "Visionary" section of Gartner's respected "Magic Quadrant for PC Life Cycle Configuration Management" report. Gartner's Magic Quadrant reports are widely consulted by enterprise IT buyers seeking independent counsel during their evaluation and procurement cycles. Gartner describes companies in the Visionary quadrant as those that "reflect feature-complete products, show leadership in providing some life cycle management functions that users have just started requesting. A Visionary appears on shortlists because of its reputation in the market as a complete solution and a responsive vendor…"
